DukeLEARN is an interdisciplinary team of neuroscientists, psychologists, physicians and social scientists at Duke University who are committed to helping people understand the brain—how it works, how to use it for maximum achievement, and how to keep it healthy.

Information about brain function is appearing at an explosive rate. DukeLEARN translates leading-edge science into useful information for all members of the public.

We integrate these findings into educational programs for a wide variety of audiences - children, parents, teachers, counselors, medical professionals, community leaders and policy makers. The goal of these programs is to enhance learning and reduce or prevent risks to learning, including substance abuse, stress and mental illness.

Our goals are to:

Identify relevant research about the brain.

Articulate and explain these findings in language that is accessible, engaging, and motivating.
Deliver this information through multiple media, the internet, personal presentations and interactive educational curricula.
Focus on the total community to create a climate of change.
Conduct research to determine the most effective ways of changing knowledge, attitudes and behavior by teaching people about the brain.
Lead everyone, especially children and young adults, to success in using the full capacity of their brains.
